Her Story

Another photo of Sharon from 1967

The following is an e-mail from Sharon Waldman to Gerry Wilkinson....I certainly wish that you could have found a more flattering picture to use with my name. (We did and it is the photo pictured on this page. The old photo that Sharon is talking about is now found at the hyperlink just above). Unfortunately, I do not have the capability at this time to send a more recent photo or my graduation picture. I will find a way to do it. I am listed as a friend of Marlene Patrick. That is true. But it is also true that I spent time at WRTI AM with Susan Shaffer and a weekly hour program playing folk music. We started each program with the Chad Mitchell Trio's "What Did You Learn in School Today?" I also took a couple classes in RTF, one with John Roberts. I learned how to engineer and to do a program solo. I understand terminology such as log and cart, and I still know how to cue a song on a record.

Steve Reidenberg introduced me and Marlene to WRTI before he left Temple. Some of my happiest moments were spent in a basement. I was graduated from Temple in August, 1967, and have taught in the Philadelphia School system since, taking off a total of 3 years for two children, David now 28 and Aliza, 24. I married Steve Waldman, June 18, 1966 and was widowed, suddenly, September 5, 1997. While viewing the web site, I saw names of people I had not thought of in over 25 years. Suddenly names became associated with people and as I looked at the photos, memories came flooding back. Steve would have loved to have seen those pictures, especially the ones of me, Marlene and Jane Lessner. He shared many facets of my life with me and enjoyed them.

Since I work during the time that corporate America eats lunch, perhaps an informal dinner get-together could be planned for a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. (just a thought) I have a lot more time on my hands lately. I'd love to hear from anybody who wants to write.

ShaynYehud: Did I ever tell you that I was on Jeopardy and lost $6k in 30 seconds?
GmmZ504918: really?
ShaynYehud: Yes. Shot in October 1988, shown in January 1989..
GmmZ504918: didn't win?
GmmZ504918: did you come in second?
ShaynYehud: Lost it all on Final Jeopardy. If I bet $0, I win.
ShaynYehud: Second place winner of ugly furniture.
GmmZ504918: more than I won for second place in that GOP primary in 1973
ShaynYehud: Great. I made a fool of myself on national syndicated TV. You did it locally.
GmmZ504918: Could be worse
GmmZ504918: though, I don't know how
GmmZ504918: joke
GmmZ504918: LOL
ShaynYehud: Yes worse. NATIONAL TV!!! Very embarassing to say the least. I can laugh now, not then.
GmmZ504918: On that note (given to me by Elvis Presley and boy, was he glad to get rid of it), I better sign off and get ready for tomorrow.
GmmZ504918: BYE
