A Message from the FM Station Manager

WRTI-FM is Proud to Present....

These Programs of Special Interest

The following is reprinted from page 13 of the WRTI Program Guide for October 1958-January 1959 issue.

Within our broadcasting schedule are certain programs which we feel deserve special consideration. One of these is ACADEMY. This program is the epitome of the "different," cultural presentation. Heard every evning at 8 pm, on Mondays "Academy" offers the "Big Bands" show, a tasteful re-creation of the big bands era of the thirtys and fortys (sic), hosted by Gene Pompeii.

On Wednesday night's "Academy" you'll hear an unusual and stimulating program called "Aspects of American Music." This is the vehicle of Peter Chrisafides, who has done music criticism for the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin, and is a composer in his own right. This show is produced by Martin Kreiner.

Every Friday night "Academy" presents "An Evening at the Opera," on which you'll hear complete, hi-fidelity recordings of operas.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings on "Academy,' you'll hear off-beat, specially prepared programs.

New on WRTI's programming schedule is "University," heard Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 3 pm. On this series, various Temple University professors will present a lecture one day a week on a regular course of study at Temple University.

On Monday you can hear Loren Tesdell of the Political Science Department, and learn about United States foreign policy. Each Wednesday, Robert Page of the Music Department will present a lecture and demonstrate with recorded and live music, the true art of listening to and appreciating fine music. On Friday, hear a discussion of basic economic principles with John Server, a member of the Management Department.

WRTI-FM also produces live dramas, more live dramas in fact than that presented on all the radio stations in the Philadelphia area combined. If you enjoy drama, be sure to listen to such programs as "Radio Theater," "Temple Drama Workshop," and "Miracle of America."

In the field of analysis and commentary, you can hear the "McKenna Analysis," with Dr. William McKenna, Assistant Professor of Transportation at Temple University. Dr. McKenna is an expert in many fields besides transportation, including politics and economics.

Yes, whatever aspect of fine educational broadcasting you prefer, you can get it at 90.1 on your FM dial. The complete facilities of Temple University and WRTI are teamed to bring you the best radio programming in the Philadelphia area.
