From the June 1959 issue of the Temple University Alumni Review...
The Presidents of Temple University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Pittsburgh joined forces in "The Pennsylvania Way," a series of half-hour filmed television programs, in April.

Dr. Robert L. Johnson, Dr. Gaylord P. Harnwell, of the University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Edward H. Litchfield, of the University of Pittsburgh, discussed the problems of higher education in the State. The discussions were supplemented by filmed sequences taken at the three universities.

The first of the programs, telecast over WFIL-TV in Philadelphia April 12, explored the opportunities and problems of students entering college. A week later, the presidents discussed the importance of academic research. The final program, shown April 26, explained why the State grants money to private institutions of higher educations.

The programs are a part of the three universities' program to interpret the needs of higher education to the citizens of Pennsylvania.

John B. Roberts, associate professor of radio and speech and WFIL-TV newscaster, moderated the series. Filmed by WFIL, the programs will be telecast at a later date in other parts of the state.
