Al Hotlen

His Story

The following is an e-mail Allan Hotlen to Gerry Wilkinson

I don't even know you, but I'm so grateful that you "found" me (something I've been trying to do for many years)and made me aware of this incredible web site.

Where are:
Alan Labovitz and Judie Steinberg
Tom Stanwood
Barb Nalven (my "Hayride" partner)
Pierce Carson (I almost stole his name once)
Stan Marinoff?

It was great to see Ed Cunningham's name. I'll contact him.

I'm managing a radio station in San Francisco. It's a Top 40, owned by the most remarkable company I know, Bonneville International, Inc.

I've been with BIC for more than 6 years . . . first as Program Director at KOIT, S. F. and then as VP/GM of WWZZ, WWVZ and WXTR, in Washington, DC.

My "resume" reads like so may others in broadcasting; too much travel, too many cities and too many call letters.

But, if that's what it took to get me to where I am, I have no complaints. I feel blessed.

I can't tell you what a "sentimental journey" it's been to spend time at WRTI.com. And to learn that Professor Roberts and Professor Seibel are still active was a joyful discovery for me.

There seem to be so few names on this site from my "era" (1958-60). But seeing Harold Sacks was (almost) enough compensation! What a great guy. Can't wait to see him at the next reunion.

I've seen David Brenner several times since he became famous. We were great friends at Temple. I'm not sure he remembers that now.

My number at work is (415) 957-0957. I'd LOVE to hear from any (all) of the folks who helped make my days at 'RTI among the most blissful of my life.

Gerry Wilkinson says, "Hey, we have found Alan and Judie. Their e-mail addresses are listed in our directory."

By the way, Allan was Music Director at WIP Radio in Philadelphia in 1965 and 1966. Then he got bumped upstairs to Program Director for the next couple of years.
