Her Story

The following is an e-mail from Lois Rubin Gross to Gerry Wilkinson

I was amazed to hear from you. The only people I hear from regularly are Liz (Cochrane) Gober and Ken Kalstein. Ken wasn't officially RTF, but hung around with Deena Jamroz and Karl Engel a lot. Liz lives in the D.C. area and Ken is out in San Francisco being a computer whiz.

I got my Library degree after Temple and moved to Denver in 1975. I met my husband, Eric, about a month after I moved here. My parents heaved a big sigh and said, in Yiddish, that it was probably "b'shert" (fate). Anyway, I work for the State of Colorado as a librarian for the blind and handicapped. It isn't where I started, at all, but it is very rewarding. I also do some storytelling, locally (hence, Storylady) which keeps my hand in performing.

I have one daughter who is starting her Sophomore year at NYU majoring in theatre. Yeah, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I don't get home very often, anymore. My dad died, last summer....

Please let anyone who wants to write know that I'd be happy to respond. I've skipped all my Overbrook reunions, but I always said I'd be much more interested in seeing the folks from RTF. Those were interesting days.

Best regards to everyone.

...Congratulations on your daughters' many accomplishments. Mine is going into her junior year at NYU majoring in Theatre at Tisch. She loves NY. In fact, it's a major fight to get her home on breaks! Anyone have any theatre connections? Someday she's going to have to earn a living. She's just as adorable as her mother was at that age (!!!!)....

Just a note to let you know that our daughter, Dayna, will be making her musical theatre debut at NYU during the last week of October. (She already made her dramatic debut, but musical theatre is what she is all about). The play is called "Songs for a New World" and is very much a jazz ensemble piece -- four characters in search of a perfect harmony! We'll be in NY for the play. If anyone is interested in specifics, E-mail me at Storylady5@aol.com.

And to all the M.O.T.'s, l'shana tova (that's Happy New Year to the uninitiated).

Best wishes from Colorado!
