Harold Sacks Says....

In an e-mail from Harold Sacks, he helped identify some of the WRTI personnel in our photo section.

Regarding the picture of Jerry Lewis at WRTI. Harold writes, Jerry had a Q&A Session upstairs at Thomas Hall recorded for rebroadcast on probably AM. (I may have a complete tape of this). He was at Temple promoting a film and being Jerry the intellectual.

He also wants to know...Does anyone from my era remember Malcolm X speaking in the same venue (Thomas Hall)? I don't have a tape of that but I remember a photo of it in the Temple News. For some reason, I think George Ingram would remember better than I.

Finally, he adds...That's it for now, maybe more later on the WRTI Drama Workshop's attempt at "WAR OF THE WORLDS" with Steve Oxman (WIP's Steve Fredericks) in one of the starring roles.

George Ingram e-mails...Yes, I remember Malcolm speaking at Thomas Hall (and hearing Ravi Shankar play there, too). In fact, I mentioned both of them in a remembrance of Thomas Hall I wrote for the Fall '98 issue of TEMPO, WRTI's quarterly publication.

While we discussing visitors to Thomas Hall and WRTI, remember in May of 1964 when WOR radio personality, Jean Shepherd appeared at the yearly banquet? Read about it in the Temple News (updated 1/25/99).
