Vic Brody

Vic Brody passed away from a rather sudden bout with cancer on August 28, 1999. He started feeling ill in April and had surgery shortly thereafter. Everyone was delighted that Vic could make our WRTI alumni reunion over the Memorial Day weekend. He was hospitalized in mid-June for 6 weeks. He returned home and then went to a nursing home. Shortly thereafter he returned to the hospital where he remained until the end. Vic will be missed.

The following was written by Gerry Wilkinson in 1998....Vic is kicking around in West Chester. He writes a weekly column for the Daily Local News and his day gig is authoring scientific pieces for a firm in New Jersey. In the upcoming issue of the Temple Tempo, Vic has several pieces about "blues" music.

He's a big BLUES fan. When I had my CD store, we had a mailing list. This guy came up, made his purchase and filled in the mailing list form. When looked at it, I saw his name was VIC BRODY. I went "Zheeeee" and he smiled. That was about 1989. Vic, by the way, wrote several stories about my store for his column. I lost touch with Vic when I closed my shop in 1996. But Fran Odyniec had an address but no phone. I added it to our "where are they now?" list. Yesterday, March 30, 1998, I ran some of the names through some search engines. I do that from time to time because new items are added and I might gain some new info. There, I found Vic's phone number and called. I talked to him for a few minutes and he gave me Lenore Patterson's phone number. Vic said that he would visit the site shortly and send us more information on what he has been up to.

Talked to Vic on AOL's Instant Messenger and he said that he's working at the Franklin Mint in Wawa, Pennsylvania writing about collectibles.

Well, we don't have to wait anymore. Vic just e-mailed this about himself. He wrote it in the third person.

Since Temple, Vic Brody has been writing steadily, but in a variety of settings, including a spell at TV-17 and at TV-29, and with Peirce Phelps Video Systems and at RCA. He has been doing an entertainment column for the Journal Register newspapers for the past decade, and has been writing about music in Blues Review for 3 years. He recently did several articles for Temple's Tempo magazine.
