Wally Hindes

His Story

The following is an e-mail from Wally Hindes to Gerry Wilkinson....

Came across your WRTI page quite by accident while searching for an "Inside Radio" web site. I'm a 1973 graduate of Temple, and was at WRTI for the '71-'73 school years. First, as a newsman, second as Assistant News Director, and thirdly, as Program Director during the 1973 academic year. Back in those days, Jazz was considered a bad word, so WRTI was known as "The Freedom Sounds."

From WRTI, I traveled the local radio circuit, from WIBG-Philadelphia, to WZYQ- Frederick, Maryland, on to WPGC- Washington, DC - WBSB-Balitmore, WAGO-Chicago, WASH-Washington DC.

Since 1986, I've been with AP Broadcast Services in Washington, first as a newsman, morning drive anchor, Assistant Managing Editor/Programming, and currently, Assistant Managing Editor/Radio.

Great page. If I come across any other WRTI alumni - I'll pass them along.

Regards, Wally Hindes '73
