It's scary. Did anyone ever see the science fiction movie, "Logan's Run?" On your 30th birthday, you were sent to carousel, where you were killed. (If you were good, you were to be re-born.) And the whole place was run by powerful old men. I mean old, not like us and Ed Sciaky. Old, like 90 or so. (Hey...maybe 90 isn't that old...we're more than half way there.) Harold and Dr. D met their "carousel" on their 67th birthday. Temple promised "Camelot," but gave you "carousel." My daughter, Maya, an undergrad at Temple, is so upset because most of the basic courses are taught by GA's, now called TA's for Teaching Assistants. Where are the knowledgeable guys? The ones with all the answers.... You know, they have the title "Professor?" Maya is very careful to get into sections of the class that are taught by real instructors. You know, the ones with ph.d after their names. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that there aren't TA's that have knowledge....it's just that with experience comes knowledge. I bet if Mike Biel gets asked a question that he doesn't know the answer to or is not sure, he researches it to get the correct answer. That is how he gains knowledge. That can only come with experience. America, not just Temple no longer treasures experience. It's just excess baggage to be discarded at will.
